RECIPE! Muscimol extract (water based) & Pain relief cream

Ingredients:

  • Dried Amanita Muscaria mushrooms (preferably powder)
  • Citric acid
  • Beeswax
  • Good quality oil (e.g., Hemp, Olive, Coconut)
  • Essential oil (optional)

Equippment:

  • Electric Stove
  • Pot
  • PH Meter
  • Distilled water (to rinse PH meter).

Abstract:

Amanita muscaria, a psychoactive mushroom, contains significant amounts of ibotenic acid and muscimol. In dried form, it typically comprises 70-85% ibotenic acid and 15-30% muscimol. Decarboxylation, a chemical process, is essential for converting ibotenic acid into muscimol. This transformation is crucial in producing a muscimol extract from dried amanita muscaria mushrooms or powder. Decarboxylation occurs through controlled heating, wherein ibotenic acid loses a carboxyl group, resulting in the formation of muscimol. Therefore, a decarboxylated Amanita muscaria extract is essentially a water-based muscimol extract. Understanding and implementing the decarboxylation process are fundamental steps in harnessing the therapeutic properties of muscimol from Amanita muscaria mushrooms.

Instructions:

Decarboxylation Process:

1. Begin by using dried Amanita Muscaria mushrooms, preferably in powdered form.

1.1 If using electric stove and a pot, recommended water and mushroom ratio is as follows: for 1 part of mushrooms powder use 10 parts of water (for example: for 90 grams amanita muscaria powder add 900 ml of water).

1.2 To transfer all active components from mushrooms biomass into water (both ibotenic acid and muscimol) – Simmer the mushrooms/powder in a near to boil water for 30 minutes (recommended temperature is between +90C to +99C).

1.3 Discard the mushrooms biomass to have a clean water based extract (filter out with a coffee filter or cheesecloth, or for a cleaner extract – filter it multiple times).

1.4 For full conversion from Ibotenic Acid to Muscimol, continue boilding the filtered extract for an additional 2.5 hours (recommended temperature is between +90C to +99C) in a pH between 2.5-3.0 using citric acid (citric acid is used to lower PH of the extract).

OPTIONAL: Adjust time for partial conversion accordingly (e.g., 1.5 hours for 50% conversion).

OPTIONAL: Once full conversion is achieved, consider reducing the water to concentrate the muscimol extract.

Cream Preparation:

1. Melt 45 ml (3 tablespoons) of beeswax into 180 ml (3/4 cup) of chosen oil (Hemp, Olive, Coconut) and let it cool.

2. Using an immersion blender, whip the cooled mixture while slowly adding 90-120 ml (6-8 tablespoons) of muscimol water until peaks form.

3. Alternatively, combine 45 ml (3 tablespoons) of emulsifying wax and 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of beeswax with 120 ml (1/2 cup) of oil. Let it cool slightly and stir in 120 ml (1/2 cup) of muscimol water.

OPTIONAL: add a few drops of essential oil for fragrance.

Storage and Usage:

Store the cream in the refrigerator for prolonged shelf life.

Apply the cream topically on the affected area 2-3 times daily for pain relief.

Example about the expected output (using 90g amanita muscaria powder and 900 ml water): after the first 30 minute extraction process, a liquid Ibotenic acid & Muscimol extract would loose about 20-30% of water that has been used in the beginning because of the steam and absorption in the biomass (that is, from 900 ml, after 30 minutes boiling and biomass removal, expect output is 720-630 ml.). After the rest of the conversion of 2.5 hours boiling, expect around 50-60% loss in the water mass, that is, for example, from 630 ml – expected final output would be between 252-315ml. Having the final output of 252 ml., it would be adequate to count the quantity of ml that equals to one gram of biomass used. In this scenario, 252 ml : 90 grams = 2.8 ml. That is 1 gram of dried amanita muscaria biomass has been extracted into 2.8 ml of water.

Note: Exercise caution and ensure safe handling of ingredients throughout the preparation process. Adjust measurements and conversion times as necessary for desired outcomes.
